FIVDB since its inception is active in the field of health, nutrition, family planning, provision of portable water and sanitation. For a long while, FIVDB trained rural health workers and traditional birth attendants (TBA).

FIVDB’s health programme presently focuses on maternal, neonatal care, child survival and family planning. FIVDB is involved in malaria control and water and sanitation (WASH) activities. Our work is concentrated around greater Sylhet region where there are high levels of maternal, infant and child mortality, malnutrition resulting in stunting in growth of children. FIVDB is also involved in providing a full scale three year long training course on midwifery together with BRAC University.

In the promotion of water sanitation, hygiene and nutrition, FIVDB works with UNICEF, Save the Children International and Concern Worldwide.
